How to Install the Tii 505F Fiber Interface Device
Quick answer: Mount the 505F by its external ears in a location protected from dirt and moisture, bring the drop cable in through the left grommet and secure it with the cable clamps, patch or splice at the tray/adapter tower, route the output cable through the right grommet, coil slack clockwise into the base, and snug the cover’s hex screw.
Caution: The product shall be installed in a manner that complies with applicable national and local safety codes. Warranty: if this unit fails during the warranty period, contact Tii customer service to authorize a return.
The 505F Series is a compact fiber patch & splice and slack storage enclosure. Large split grommets and cable clamps at the bottom of the base allow telco drop lines and fiber cables to enter and exit, with room for sufficient drop/fiber slack storage.
Mounting
- Mount the device so as to minimize the possibility of dirt or moisture entering the enclosure.
- When mounting units side-by-side or end-to-end, space them so covers can be opened easily.
- Mount using the external mounting ears with appropriate hardware.
Wiring
- Punch a hole through the left grommet and guide the cable through the entry grommet, using the correct cable-clamp configuration for the cable type (oval opening for flat drop cable; rectangular opening for ROC drop and 3 mm cable).
- For connectorized cable: unscrew and lift the top part of the cable clamp, seat the cable, and re-tighten the screws to secure it.
- Wrap excess drop/fiber slack clockwise and place it into the base enclosure.
- If splicing and the unit has the hinged splice tray: splice drop cables on top of the splice tray.
- Wrap excess fiber around the splice tray.
- Plug the connector into the SC adapter tower.
- If splicing and the unit is configured with the FP-01 splice tray: splice drop cables on top of the splice tray.
- Splice the feeder fiber to a fiber pigtail or directly to the customer fiber; if using a pigtail, insert its connector into the upper port of the SC adapter.
- Remove the splice cover, insert the splice sleeve into the holder, manage excess pigtail around the fiber plate, and replace the cover.
- Punch a hole through the right grommet, guide the cable through the exit grommet, and secure it with the cable clamps.
- Wrap excess output slack clockwise into the base enclosure.
- Plug the connector into the corresponding SC adapter.
- Close and secure the cover, tightening the security hex screw until snug — do not over-tighten.
